Father's Day Done Right!

Many times Father's Day is overshadow after the gifts, glam, and Facebook post that roll out in May for Mother's Day. We often forget the wonderful role that a father, brother, uncle, or male figure plays in a child's life. I am personally a Daddy's girl, and I truly value and miss the connection my father and I had together when he was a alive.

For this Father's Day I want to personally thank all men who put so much effort to love, support, and dream with their children. What an honor it is to be given such a huge responsibility! I encourage you this father's day to not only get a wonderful gift for your father, but if he is still here, spend some much needed time with him. Here are a few ideas to make this Father's Day memorable for the man in your life who has done so much for you.

1. Talk : Yep, such an easy thing to do is to sit with your Dad and listen. Many children grow up and forget that their parents crave the connection with them. So, for this father's day take the time to see how your Dad truly is doing. Whether you have the strong silent father, or the silly playful Dad, spending time with him will mean more than you truly know. Ask questions about his childhood, how he grew up, about his favorite sports team, or what he thinks Trump is up to. Needless to say, these ideas will have your father spilling all the tea to you,and you just might learn something new.

2. Learn Something New Together: It's always fun to learn something new with someone you love. Whether it's a pottery class, painting, ice skating, or watching a soccer game, it will be great fun spending time learning a new activity together. Maybe your Dad is interested in building model cars, or model airplanes, how fun would it be to do this together.

3. Cook for him: They say a way to a man's heart is cooking, and it's a great way to also show you love him. Gather up your best recipe, pour your dad a drink (or water :)) and get to the kitchen to make a great meal for your father. Sure, you could take him to eat, but it's something special about a home cooked meal for the father or father figure in your life.

4.Spa Day: Yes, you read that right SPA DAY! Many men will never take themselves to the spa for a royal treatment, but they will happily tag along if you've planned something. Treat your favorite man to a spa day filled with a massage or pedicure. Trust me, Summer is here and he will thank you for it!

5. Play a game: Fathers, Brothers, Uncles, and great family friends spend sometime talking mess to each other on the basketball court or over an intense game of spades. How about you join him this time? If your Dad is the athletic type take him to the court, or maybe your Dad enjoys checkers, chess, or cards, take him somewhere peaceful and play a game or two. Not only is this a fun and exciting way to spend time together it's an easy way to say "I love you".
