Redirecting Your Goals

With the first quarter of the year coming to a close I’ve been doing a lot of self-inspection, specifically on the goals I set out to keep this year. Of course with the hustle and bustle of the New Year, and being so determined to get that one goal done, it’s easy to, at this time, lose sight of what you set out to do. Of course as always I have come with helpful guidelines and questions to see where you are and how to get you better. So get your notebooks ready, because these are tips you’ll find helpful all year round.

Find the courage to start again – Often time it’s easy to talk a big game and get frustrated after 2 weeks of not seeing results. I know I can sometimes get discouraged when I fail at completing a goal that I wanted to keep. So, instead of sitting in your pity, let’s find a way to get you back on focus. For example, maybe you wanted to start fresh this year with leaving behind negative people, and now, you’ve looked up and seen those people still in your life. It’s okay, some goals are really big and hard to handle. For goals like getting negative people out of your life, I need you to take a drastic but needed change. Refresh your life by completely eliminating contact with those you don’t see helping your life. Maybe you have a negative co-worker that gossips all the time and you just can’t take it anymore. Well, cutting them off might be different but still needed. There’s no need to be rude but keep it short and if asked explain that you just want to focus on work instead of worrying about others. You can’t worry about how others feel if it’s something you need. Do the hard and difficult things that are good for you. It might not be the easiest, but I guarantee it will benefit you in the long run.

Write It, Claim It – That’s right. As you might already know writing down something makes it stick in your brain that much more. So, write down your goals and put them where you can see them. Are you looking to still lose that last 10 pounds of baby weight? Write it down and post it up where you’ll see it daily. That way on days that you might not feel like hitting the gym you’re reminded of your goals. Or maybe you’re opting for something like a promotion at work. Just saying it will happen is not enough you need action, and faith in yourself that you can do it. I encourage writing down your goals because it might be exactly that push you need to real get stuff done. So try it whether using sticky notes, or creating a vision board, do what needs to be done to accomplish your goals.

Do it now! – What is it that you’ve been wanting to do, a goal you want, but you just can’t seem to find the courage to do it? Do it now. Do it scared and make it happen. So you want to ask for a promotion and you’re too scared? Go for it! You want a new job but have been a stay at home mom? Refresh your resume and do it now. It’s so important to do what scares you because if not you will stay wishing you met your goals next year. You can’t be the same as you were last year, time is too short to rest in that same mind set. So, whatever it is that is holding you back, forget it! Do what you need to live your best life.

To end, I hope that these small changes will prove to be a huge change in your life. I get so excited to encourage and motivate you into being the best you out there. Of course there are many other ways to get you back on the horse, but I hope these three tips gets you on track. I’m rooting for your success and wish you only the best.
